Ipswich Museum
Ipswich Museum is a museum of history, science, and learning that was set up in the 1840s by a local industrialist with the aim of public improvement, scientific study, and public debate. It was a leading museum of its time, gaining a national reputation, and is now home to over 200,000 individual objects, many of which have outstanding national and international significance. The museum is currently undergoing a redevelopment, which aims to refurbish and restore the purpose-built museum building, redisplay and reinterpret the galleries, and support a vibrant events and activity programme.
