PRIVACY

Your privacy at IpswichLife.

This notice explains what personal information we use, why we use it and the choices available to you when you use IpswichLife.

Who is responsible for your information?

IpswichLife is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. If you have a privacy question or want to exercise one of your rights, please use our contact page.

Information we collect

  • Newsletter sign-up: your email address and your consent to receive Ipswich Life Weekly.
  • Contact and submission forms: the information you choose to send us, such as your name, email address, message, and listing or event details.
  • Accounts and owner/admin areas: your email address, sign-in details and records of important changes made through those areas. This can include the date and time, IP address and the action taken, helping us keep the directory secure and accountable.
  • Technical information: limited log and security information generated when the site is used, which helps us operate, protect and troubleshoot the service.

How we use it

  • to operate, secure and improve IpswichLife;
  • to respond to enquiries and manage listing, event and venue submissions;
  • to verify and administer owner and administrator access;
  • to send the weekly newsletter where you have actively opted in; and
  • to prevent spam, misuse and unauthorised activity.

We rely on your consent for marketing emails. For running and protecting the service, responding to requests and keeping appropriate records, we rely on our legitimate interests and, where relevant, steps needed to provide a service you ask for.

Newsletter emails

We only add you to Ipswich Life Weekly after you tick the newsletter consent box and confirm your email address using the link we send you. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in a newsletter, once newsletters are sent, or by contacting us. We keep enough information after an unsubscribe request to make sure we do not contact you again by mistake.

Who helps us run IpswichLife?

We use carefully selected providers to host the site, store information, support sign-in and send emails. These include Vercel, Supabase and Resend. They process information only as needed to provide their services to us. Some providers may process information outside the UK; where this happens, we use appropriate safeguards required by data-protection law.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, including security, legal and record-keeping needs. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe, subject to keeping a minimal suppression record. Submission and account information is retained only while it is needed to manage the directory, the relevant relationship or a legitimate record.

Your rights

You may have the right to ask for access to your information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction, objection to certain processing, and a copy of information you have provided to us. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time. Contact us through the contact page and we will respond in line with UK data-protection law.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how we handle your information.
