Orwell Panthers Athletics Club
Orwell Panthers Athletics Club is an inclusive sports group set up specifically for athletes with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or visual and hearing impairments. The club opens its doors to anyone from the age of eight upwards, welcoming everyone from absolute beginners looking to stay active to those training for mainstream competitions. At the heart of what they do are weekly training sessions led by qualified coaches who adapt activities to suit individual needs. Attendees can get stuck into a wide array of track and field disciplines, with dedicated coaching available for sprints and middle-distance running, as well as jumping events like long jump and high jump.
The club also provides specialised equipment to make sure everyone can participate fully, including a selection of sports wheelchairs and specialised frames. Athletes can try their hand at throwing events too, utilizing items like the shot put, discus, javelin, and specialized throwing chairs. Because they use a fully equipped sports centre, visitors can count on excellent practical amenities, including an on-site car park with designated disabled parking spaces, step-free access throughout, accessible changing facilities, and dedicated disabled toilets. Sessions run throughout the year, moving to indoor spaces during the winter months and out onto the main track when the summer weather permits.
Whether you’re an experienced athlete or new to sports, we welcome everyone aged 8 to 99+!
