Good Witches: Cunning Folk and Practical Magic in the Age of the Witch Hunts - Talk

Dr Tabitha Stanmore, a historian, author and speaker, will discuss the role of 'good' or 'cunning' magic during the height of witch persecutions in East Anglia. The talk examines how cunning folk addressed curses on livestock, family members or spouses through magical means rather than reporting suspected curser to authorities.

It also explores the relationship between these practitioners and witchfinders in the 16th and 17th centuries. The event is suitable for adults aged 16 and over and forms part of the Witches: Suffolk's Dark Legacy exhibition programme, supported by Debach Enterprises and funded in part by the Weston Loan Programme with Art Fund.
