EVENT

Myth, magic, superstition and belief in Anglo-Saxon England

The event will feature a discussion on the myths, magical practices and belief systems of Anglo-Saxon England led by Sue Moss and Carole Winstanley, who are volunteers at Sutton Hoo National Trust. The session will be conducted in authentic Anglo-Saxon attire and will examine the evolution of beliefs from the migration period up until 1066.

Attendees will gain insight into how charms, symbols and traditional customs were integrated into everyday life through rune poems, the perceived power of words and objects, the changing role of wise women, and the methods people used to seek protection, healing and good fortune.
