Straw Plaiting for Samhain workshop

The Straw Plaiting for Samhain workshop offers participants the chance to create their own mini broomstick using heritage wheat straw. Techniques are taught by Lucy Hook-Child, who is known as both a corn dolly maker and straw worker. This event aligns with the tradition of Samhain, which marks the Witches' New Year, encouraging attendees to craft a small broom to symbolically sweep away negativity from the previous year.

Attendees can explore more about Lucy and her work through social media under the handle @corndollyfolklore and on her website at www.corndollyfolklore.co.uk. The workshop is suitable for individuals aged 16 and above. It is part of the Halloween programme at The Hold and contributes to the Witches: Suffolk's Dark Legacy exhibition, which has received support from Debach Enterprises and funding from the Weston Loan Programme with Art Fund.
