Writing Witches Workshop: Character and Story in Children’s and Young Adult Fiction

Dr Lindsey Scott, a youth horror expert, will guide participants through the challenges of portraying witchcraft in children's and young adult literature. The session focuses on crafting compelling characters and generating impactful story concepts that resonate with younger audiences.

The workshop is open to adults interested in writing or exploring middle grade (8-12 years) and young adult fiction, regardless of experience level. It forms part of Bewitched by Words, a series of workshops and talks organized by the University of Suffolk’s English Department. The event is intended for those aged 18 and above, and is included within the programme for Witches: Suffolk's Dark Legacy exhibition, which received support from the Weston Loan Programme via Art Fund and Debach Enterprises.
