Ipswich Corn Exchange

Ipswich Corn Exchange brings live music, comedy and nights out into the town centre. On King Street, its Grand Hall hosts seated performances, standing gigs, club nights and conferences. Artists including Blur, Muse and Snow Patrol have played here, making it a familiar stop for touring acts and local audiences alike.

The building began life as a trading hall. Designed by architect Brightwen Binyon, it opened on 26 July 1882 for corn trading and housed the town’s fruit and vegetable market from 1888 until 1970. The last corn market took place in June 1972. Following remodelling, the Corn Exchange reopened in September 1975 for entertainment and events. Today, it remains a place where people come together, with shows and gatherings filling a hall that once served the town’s market traders.
